JPs Software - Kaleidoscope

upWWW-Seite in Deutsch

This is a little collection of video-plugins for Pinnacles software Studio 9 (and 10). It is an early beta-release of the plugins, so use them at your own risc. Feel free to send feedback and comments. The plugin was tested under Windows XP with Studio 9.4 - but most of the effects should also run under Studio 10. Programming these video-effects is an hobby of mine, so the plugin can be used freely as defined by the Gnu Public License (version 2 or later, see file COPYING).

Attention: if you encounter watermarks from Pinnacle when using my plugins, just update to the latest version of JPsEffects!

Documentation

This effect simulates a kaleidoscope. A video-clip can be split into several segments, and one of these segments is copied or mirrored to the other segments.

First, specify the number of segments that should be uses (1 means no change). The Parameter "angle" can be used to pick the correct source segment; this segment is copied to every other segment. Checking the "mirror" option to mirror every other segment. At least the "circular" option only displays a round part of the video to hide the border.

Parameter
  • Segments: The number of segments in which the video gets segmented.
  • Angle: This specifies the angle where the "main"-segmens starts that gets copied to the other segments. With Angle you can specify the part of the input video, that is copied.
  • Mirror: Selecting Mirror leads to the effect, that every other segment is mirrored. This way, all borders fit together.
  • Circular: If Circular is selected, the output video is cut to a circular region and all borders get black or transparent.

screenshot23 Segments, Mirror (s. arrow), diffrent angle (a), and displaying a circular region only
screenshot3Other things that could be done: Use a lot of Segments and fade the effect slowly in / create a moving title and mirror it twice or thrice (to do so, use Kaleidoscope only on the title; can be combined with a "Star-Wars"-Transformation)
